What is counseling?
Counseling is a collaborative process where you work with a trained professional to explore concerns, gain insight, and develop skills for emotional, mental, and relational well-being.
What is the difference between a counselor and a therapist?
In most cases, the terms are used interchangeably. Both are trained mental health professionals. Licensing titles vary by state, such as LPC, LMFT, LCSW, or Psychologist. Chelsey is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Mercer University.
How do I know if I would benefit from counseling or therapy?
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or seeking personal growth, therapy can help. Common reasons include anxiety, depression, addiction, eating patterns, relationship struggles, life transitions, grief, or wanting healthier coping skills.
What questions should I ask when looking for a therapist?
You might ask about their training, areas of specialty, approach to therapy, and experience with your concerns. A consultation can help you see if the fit feels right.
What is Christian counseling?
Christian counseling integrates psychological principles with biblical values for clients who desire faith-based support. It’s offered only when requested and always respects your personal beliefs.
